The shoots, photos and people as they come through my life.
At almost every wedding you spot a moment before a bride is about to walk down the aisle when they go quiet. It’s a good quiet though and a quiet that has to be enjoyed because as I always say to brides, once you walk down the aisle and you blink your eyes it’s 9pm. It’s good to stop every now and again and just take everything in that’s happening around you! This was Anél’s moment and I can still remember it like it happened just a moment ago. The rest of their wedding will be up at the start of next week and...
read morePart 2 of Taryn and Greg’s wedding at Kirstenbosch and this is my favourite part! Typical of Cape Town this ‘summer’ it started looking like it was going to rain just as we finished the family shots and started with the couple shoot, instead we got a nice bit of cloud cover and soft light to play with. I have to admit that I love a Jewish wedding reception, they party and celebrate like no one else can (and I’ve been at weddings where people party). So besides the fact that I thought for two days that I had a broken toe...
read moreWhat a way to end off 2011! A perfect summer day, a wedding in Kirstenbosch gardens and a couple who went all out to make it a day that their guests won’t soon forget! Taryn and Greg got married (some said “finally!”) and they also caused the biggest blog post that I’ve ever done. So go get yourself a cup of tea while you wait for these to load, Part 2 of their wedding will be up a bit later. Thank you for being so accommodating, for letting us share in your special day and for making this the best job in the...
read moreRemember Lizelle and Johan who got married a while ago and had their couple shoot rain out on the day? If you need to refresh your memory click here to go to Part 1 of their wedding photos. Lizelle did her hair again, Johan got in his suit and we met up one afternoon and had some fun playing around at Poplar’s in Durbanville. At the same time of our shoot there was a Trash the Dress and another wedding all at the same time! Thank you for getting all dressed up again and I hope you love your photos! Venue: Poplars...
read moreWhen you wake up for a shoot at 5am and look out the window and see what looks like rain and clouds and wind and weather that just begs you to phone the client and tell them that we’ll be better off shooting on another day…what do you actually end up doing. You go do the shoot! And even though it was freezing and the wind was howling I’m still very happy that we pushed through and got a few shots. Lauren and Jon are getting married in March and they were in Cape Town for a week to go through some of the arrangements for their...

read moreAstrid and Jéan tied the knot at Morgenhof Wine Estate just outside of Stellenbosch. It was hot (finally a wedding where we saw a bit of sweat), seems like summer is finally starting to come to the Western Cape! The light was fantastic during the couple shoot and I loved the these two were up for anything…even walking into a part of the garden covered in plants! Loved the bird theme of the wedding decor and the wooden key rings were a great idea! Thank you for being such sports on your wedding day and I hope you enjoy your...

read moreThe weather at weddings this season has really been different. I can’t remember it being this windy / rainy / cloudy / cool at weddings I did last Novermber / December. Even though the wind was howling and creating a wind tunnel effect at one side of the tent it still didn’t stop Lisa and Garth from having an amazing wedding! This is Part 1 of their wedding photo post, Part 2 has their couple shoot and a bit of the lunchtime reception at Jonkershuis, Groot Constantia. I’ve started paying a bit more attention to the...
read moreThis is Part 2 of Shu-Wen and Ian’s wedding photos, from their wedding at Kirstenbosch Gardens. Perfect afternoon light, a bride and groom who didn’t mind walking down a hill into a river, a few props, a groom who couldn’t believe his eyes when his bride walked down the aisle and a bride with two (yes, TWO) wedding dresses! Shu-Wen had a second dress, in a more traditional Chinese style for the reception. Thank you for being such troopers during your couple shoot, for the laughs and for loosing an earring (and Ian finding it...
